Let’s make dinner together - Kiymali Garavolli

Welcome to me cooking Kiymali Garavolli - Basically Lamb and Pasta 😂.

I have shared a video of me making it over on my Instagram (@sarahscreativekitchen) and tiktok - same name, in case you are a visual cook 👩‍🍳.

This is a proper winter comfort food, with a touch of a warmer climate thrown in for good measure.

I made enough for four dinner portions, but you can divide into six portions instead. It’s so delicious and here’s how to cook it:

Ingredients you will need:

  • 1 tbsp Cooking oil - I used Rapeseed oil
  • 1 large onion, finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely diced
  • 500g lamb mince
  • 280g dried macaroni
  • 2 vegetable stock pots
  • 1600ml - I used boiling water
  • salt and black pepper
  • 1 heased tbsp sweet smoked paprika
  • 1 heaped tbsp ground cumin
  • 1 heaped tbsp sumac

To top the dish- this is for all four portions

  • 150g halloumi, finely grated
  • 1 tbsp dried mint
  • 1 tbsp chilli flakes
  • 2 tbsp dried crispy onions (Aldi or Lidl sell these)

Method:

Add the oil to a pan, fry off over a medium heat and cook the onions until soft.

Add your diced garlic and spices and cook for a further 2-3 minutes.

Next add your lamb mince and fry for 4-5 minutes, then add your 2 stock pots (I used one veg and one chicken), plus your pasta choice, I used dried macaroni (do not cook it), and then finally the water (I used boiling water).

I set the hob to the highest setting for 3-4 mins to boil the water, this helps to cook the pasta quicker. Then reduce down and cook uncovered for around 5 minutes, or until the pasta looks cooked.

You do not want to end up with it dry, so add more water if needed.

Then serve into four bowls, and top with the grated halloumi and mint mix, chilli flakes, and finally some crispy onions for extra crunch!

It is so so good, will be a firm favourite moving forward.  You could serve with pitta or flatbread, but it’s a meal in one, so no extras required. It’s very filling as well.
