Stuffed Waffles..

You may have noticed across our social media platforms recently that we've invested in something super special - waffle makers suitable for stuffing.

What is that? You ask

Well, it is what it says on the tin. We have three of these waffle machines that allow us to make your favourite breakfast and brunch treats, stuffed... not just topped, but filled to the brim within the mixture itself.

Trying to reduce cross contamination to the best of our ability we decided on three to use for different purposes - one for savoury, one for sweet, one for nut items. We cannot promise to be nut allergy free as they're on site, nor do we profess to offer nut allergy free food, but we try to minimise that risk where we can.

We've been spending the last week trialling so many different fillings! Pizza stuffed, peach cobbler stuffed.... you name it, we're trying it. We've got those autumn and winter flavours ready to melt off the tongue too, with our bacon, brie and cranberry being a firm fave amongst staff. I couldn't give you a decision on my favourite one yet, we've still got some sampling to do.

I do love a savoury waffle myself - chicken and bacon with a slither of maple syrup always goes down well. It usually depends on what time of day I'm eating one though, and find that's often the case when asking others their preference too! What's your go to? For me, sweet in a morning for breakfast or brunch, and savoury in the afternoon if I'm having one for lunch or for dinner.

What are waffles made from?

A waffle mixture is pretty basic - flour, butter, yeast, milk, eggs - it's the flavours you add to fill or top it that give it that jazz, but you still want your batter just right to create the fluffy on the inside, crispy on the outside, waffle that reigns supreme.

I actually did a post about this not so long ago, I think to celebrate waffle day (you can find the post here: CLICK ME

Will stuffed waffles be a permanent fixture on our menu?

Regular waffles have always been a favourite in our shop when people come and join us for food, or on our special event nights (gluten free night, pudding club etc), so I imagine that the stuffed ones will definitely be going down well too! I hope so, as I do plan to keep them around for the foreseeable and beyond. I really love the versatility it offers, and how easy it is to switch up what it comes with for each individual. Food is to be enjoyed and I'll never be that venue that refuses to chop and change a topping here and there to let it cater for you.

I suppose the only way you'll truly experience whether they're worth keeping around, is if you come and try one for yourself ;)
